SLE Fantasy League Update

Happy Monday Silkmen Fans! After what turned out to be another tense and nail-biting encounter on Monday against Newport, we are now approaching the final two games of the season and are still in with a chance of securing our Football League status for another season!

I think it’s fair to say before going in to Saturday’s game, I’d of been happy with a point from a team chasing the play-off places with a game in hand although with the chances we had, it’s hard to look back and not see it as a missed opportunity.

However, we’re Macclesfield Town F.C. Do we ever do anything the easy way? Next up is a huge game away to local rivals Port Vale who are now managed by none other than Sir John himself. I’ve no doubt that we will show up in numbers for this one and hope that we can all carry the ‘against all odds’ mentality that has served us so well in previous years! We all have one common goal. Lets make sure the lads know we’re right behind them come Saturday!

With our league approaching its climax for the year, as is the Premier League and in turn, the Star Lane Fantasy League too! It looks as though the winner of this could also be decided in the final few games. Will Manchester City secure a successive Premier League title and push towards the treble after losing to Spurs in the Champions League? Or will Liverpool FINALLY deliver a league title again for the first time since 1989/90 (the year I was born!)

With regards to Fantasy League form, it seems I personally have taken a leaf out of Notts County / Yeovil’s book and find myself rock bottom propping everyone else up!

It looks as though we have a two-horse race to take the title this season in the SLE. Matthew Brown’s ‘Into the Mixer’ and Alex Healey’s ‘Muttley’s Bangers’ are separated by only 4 points! John Spinks, Adam Lomas and Kieron Gibbons could well make a late play should they have a strong finish on the remaining fixtures. It will certainly be worth keeping a close eye on with our winner receiving a Home or Away shirt of our beloved Silkmen for the 2019/20 season.

One thing is for certain, I hope the next time that I write an update on the SLE Fantasy League, we will of secured our Football League Status for another year. Either way, I will be Silkmen Til I Die!

See you all at Port Vale. Safe travels to all those going!
