A View From The West: Colchester United (H)

Ryan Cawley returns with his ratings following Saturday’s 1-1 draw at home to Colchester United:

O’Hara – 8 – An excellent save from a corner, somehow looped the ball over the bar from a low base. On good form.

Welch-Hayes – 7 – Much better at RB than LB, did well.

Kellegher – 7 – Solid enough but passing regularly let’s him down.

Jules – 8 – Filling in at CB for Cameron, looked assured and a good acquisition.

Fitz – 6.5 – First game back in the side, took him a bit to get in the game but good anticipation cutting out passes. Would like to see David in every week, gives the side balance.

Arthur – 5 – Better than last week where he looked lost on the left, was a threat but Lloyd has to be ahead of him surely?

Ntambwe – 6 – Soft penalty but crossing into the player from behind the ball is always going to be risky in the box. Think there is a powerful player there, doesn’t look fully match sharp to me.

Rose – 6 – Tested the keeper with a long range shot but wasn’t his usual spreading of play self, struggled against a youthful Colchester midfield.

Cole – 8. MOM – 5 –A constant threat. Hit the bar with a free kick and was our most likely player to either create or score. Best Jan signing.

Reece Cole: The Silkmen’s last minute hero last week, and put in another impressive appearance against Colchester United on Saturday (Image courtesy of Chelsie Wilson).

Wilson – 7.5 – On the score sheet again after some great link up play with Smith. On good form.

Smith – 7.5 – Harry is always fired up. A walking red card but also a danger for the opposition. We play better with him in the side.

Sol – 7 – Tough last few games, first half we were excellent against a side that started the game 4th. Second half we looked off the pace, too many players hiding. Was very frustrating for all the fans however it’s good to hear from Sol’s interview that he recognises the second half wasn’t good enough and we need to quicken up. The players need to realise games are running out and we need wins, we have to fight and really want it for all 90 mins. Team selection does still baffle me at times….Arthur over Lloyd?

Whitaker – Injured? Not rated? Danny, Durrell and Lloyd back in the starting 11 please sharpish! Looking forward to his testimonial race night Friday 1st March, Silkmen legend.
