A View From The West: Tranmere Rovers (H)

Ryan Cawley provides The Star Lane End with his rating’s following the Silkmen’s 1-1 draw at home to Tranmere Rovers:

O’Hara – 7 – Good save from a free kick. Like their keeper wasn’t truly tested other than the well taken Jennings goal.

Pearson – 6.5 – Went off with what looked like a back problem after a hefty challenge. Part of the defence that withstood a first half of Wirral pressure.

Kellegher – 8 – MOM – Took the lead as the main man at the back in Cameron’s absence. Did well and nullified a skilful Tranmere front two.

A commanding performance in the centre of the Silkmen’s back line means that Fiacre is Ryan’s Man of the Match (Image courtesy of Chelsie Wilson).

Grimes – 6 – Does well in patches then makes some strange decisions. A defensive lapse nearly let Norwood in.

Fitz – 6 – Looked tired and off the pace today. Too many games or too much Christmas / New Year cheer? Likely the former than later.

Rose – 7.5 – Better second half, winning challenges and spreading the play.

Maycock – 6.5 – Ran a lot and worked hard. Unsure who he was marking at times. Evans and Whit are far better. Time to move on.

Arthur  – 8 – A threat all game and scored the equalising goal. Trickery worries Tranmere’s back line.

Lloyd – 7 – Looked tired in the second half, good couple of balls through to the front men which ended up by baring any fruit.

Marsh – 6 – Worked hard but constantly being beaten to the ball by their CB’s. Maybe League 2 is a step above his level.

Wilson – 6 – Worked hard and went close when he broke through the White’s back line. Better second half with Marsh nearer too him but too lightweight to lead the line on his own. Needs a big man alongside him as he does know where the net is given a couple of chances. Maybe Blissett should have started…oh yea!

Welch-Hayes – 6.5 – Came on for Pearson at half-time, did ok. Still young and maybe Sol can help him improve.

Napa – 2 – Scores a two after coming on and giving the ball away twice.

Campbell – 7.5 – Battling display to win a point in a game which quite frankly under Yates we would have rolled over and lost. Several of the first team out injured or suspended. January remains a massive month with player recruitment key. Several players need moving on also.

Kennedy – Only lasted a month. Does this mean Danny is assistant again? Was Danny always assistant and Mark K coach? Who knows.
