Ryan Cawley gives us his ratings following The Silkmen’s 1-1 draw at home to Forest Green Rovers:
O’Hara – 7.5 – Could have done better with the free kick but pulled off an outstanding save late on which probably saved Yates’ job for the time being.
Hodgkiss – 8 – Noticeable difference with the (now former it seems) club captain back in the squad & first 11. Good, organised and solid.
Lowe – 8 – Gave away the free kick for the goal but other than that was dominating and along with Jared organised the back line tremendously well.
Kellogg’s – 3 – Hoofs it with every touch, ducked out of a header and looked shaky throughout. But still not quite as bad as Frank Grimes. Time for Pearson & Lowe.
Fitz – 7 – Looked tired from Wednesday but kept driving the team on down the left.
Maycock – 7 – Probably his best game for the club but unfortunately still below the standard required for League Two I’m afraid.
Whitaker – 7 – Another hard working display, went off with a knock. Worries me the amount of minutes he’s played this season with little help (before today) in the middle.
Arthur – 7.5 – As avid readers of this article will know I am not Koby’s biggest fan. However today he proved himself a real asset to the team. Made the extra man in midfield which the side sorely needs, worked hard and looked dangerous going forward. Would have got a higher rating but for silly fouls. The first two things your taught as a child in football is “Stand on your feet and don’t dive in.” Koby does both, needs to learn quick.
Wilson – 8 – Scored the goal and won a penalty only for the liner to steal the win from us.
Marsh – 8 – Worked tremendously hard chasing back on the right and always a threat going forward.
Blissett – 9 – MOM – Other than the keepers and Danny has been our best player all season and showed his attributes again today. Won every header, caused FGR’s defence all kinds of rouble & worked tireless getting back to help the team down the left.
Vincenti – 7 – Best performance in a Macc shirt so far. Creative going forward.
Yates – 7 – A vast improvement on his three previous marks of 0. Played 8 of the squad we had from last year and it showed with a far more organised and passionate performance. The care of last season’s squad players was all to see when they came over to the stands and clapped the fans – notably none of the new players signed by Blower / Yates this summer ddi. Shame it’s taken Yates 10 league games to swallow his pride, realise the majority of his signings have been pap and revert to the champions. Needs to stick with Askey’s boys from now on for us to have any chance of survival. We deserved to win the game today.
Horny Howarth – Neil’s normal late night viewings will change on Monday where he will tune in at 6.30p.m. to North West tonight and see fans (along with yours truly) speaking about the season & game. Expect an honest and open review whilst the hierarchy remain silent in the shadows…Silkmen till I die!
