The Silkmen fans who were present at the the County Ground last Saturday will always remember our beloved blues ‘second debut’ in the Football League as the Moss Rose Club were on course to record an impressive win against The Robins of Swindon Town Football Club as the clock ticked into the 90th minute. However, two late, late penalties awarded to the home side saw the away side succumb to a 3-2 defeat, yet our valiant heroes were applauded off the pitch, showing that the League Two newcomers were here to make their mark on this league!
There were many worthy Silkmen players who could have won the Man of the Match award that day, yet it was the man between the sticks, following a number of brilliant saves that claimed the first SLE accolade of the 2018/2019 season. Please step forward Mr Rhys Taylor!
Taylor won 92% of your votes, with the Silkmen legend that is Danny Whitaker finishing in second place with 8% of the SLE votes.
Congratulations Rhys and let’s hope that you continue your fine form, starting with Grimsby Town’s visit to the Moss Rose this coming Saturday!
