I know that I speak for Silkmen fans everywhere in expressing delight that Keith Lowe has signed for another season with us. Keith arrived last season as the Conference North Player of the Year and he ably demonstrated what a good player he is by producing a series of commanding displays alongside the peerless George Pilkington. Indeed Keith was an ever present in the Silkmen back-line, not missing a single minute of football when racking up an impressive 49 appearances; something akin to 4,000 minutes. Keith also netted a crucial winner against the ‘Monkey Hangers’ of Hartlepool United in December last year which sent the travelling Silkmen faithful (including yours truly) into raptures, and ultimately helped to maintain the momentum towards the finale of an incredible fairy tale ending at Eastleigh.
Throughout the season ‘Lowey’, as he is affectionately known by the Silkmen faithful, became integral to the Silkmen squad with his consistent and fearless displays, and such was his impact last season that he deservedly walked away with several fans awards including the Wraggs to Riches player of the year, the highly coveted Star Lane End player of the year and Players player of the year.
‘Lowey’ comes across as a very affable individual; always ready to chat and interact with fans and it will be great to see him in the blue and white of our beloved Silkmen for the 2018/19 season as we endeavour to more than hold our own in what will be an inevitably challenging season but one that we all hope will give us far more highs than lows.
