Good news from the Moss Rose this morning as the last of our title winning heroes has signed up for another season. Keith Lowe was the last player with a question mark over his future, which has now been put to bed as the big defender has signed a 1-year deal.
The popular defender proved a shrewd acquisition last summer from Kidderminster, playing every minute of every league game as the Silkmen won the league for the first time in 20 years. His performances were recognised by his peers and fans alike as Keith was awarded players player of the year and SLE player of the year for 2017/18.
The re-signing will come as a relief after rumours regarding a potential move to fellow League 2 new-boys Tranmere Rovers, or a move nearer home to a Midlands based club surfaced recently.
It’s not the first time Keith has worked with Mark Yates. Lowe has had success playing under Yates, with their Cheltenham side making the League 2 play-offs in 2011-12. Fans have been calling for players with League experience to come on board and this is certainly a promising start!
On The Silkmen’s official and unofficial social media pages, fans have been reacting to the news:
“That’s the one we wanted ….top lad ….”
“Thank goodness for that. Thought we were going to lose him as well.”
“Made my day”
“Best news I’ve had all week.”
“That’s the one we’ve all been waiting for. Great news.” 👏👏👏
Michael Silkmen Symmonds
“Awesome news. Great to keep Keith at the Moss for another season. Well happy with that.” 😂
“Best news he was off the scale last season.”
“Best signing so far in my opinion” 👍🏻
There was also a similar reaction to this from others which just goes to show what a popular re-signing ‘Lowey’ is! Now lets bring on the new season!
