Following yesterday’s news that Maidstone United Manager Jay Saunders has ruled himself out of the running to take over from Sir John, the bookies have been re-evaluating who is most likely to be handed the Moss Rose hot-seat.
Former Carlisle United supremo Keith Curle has now been propelled to favourite, commanding odds of 11/8.
There is then a fairly big jump to ex Crewe Alexandra and Leyton Orient boss Steven Davis who is at 8/1, whilst Steve Watson can be seen at 12/1.
There have been some calls on the forums for Danny Whitaker to be handed the role and our midfield maestro is currently sat at what we deem to be an extortionately long 33/1 with some bookies.
Clearly everything can change within a heartbeat, it was barely twenty four hours ago that Saunders was 1/10 on to take the job and whilst it was clear that the 39 year old was offered the role, ultimately he decided that it was not for him.
Hopefully we will not have to wait too much longer to find out who will be leading us back into the Football League!
It is certainly interesting times at the Moss Rose!
