With just four games of this pulsating season left to go,Silkmen striker Tyrone Marsh took some time out yesterday to speak to us about last Saturday’s two all draw at Ebbsfleet and also tonight’s trip down to Hertfordshire to face Boreham Wood.
The twenty four year old has been a pivotal figure for Sir John’s side this season and has quickly become a fans favourite at the Moss Rose.
With two goals in his last three outings, Tyrone exemplifies how much this inspirational side yearn for promotion to the Football League and this is what he had to say –
Tyrone, it has been one epic rollercoaster ride since you joined the club back in the summer, could you ever have imagined that with four games two go we would be in the position we are now?
No if I’m honest!
When I joined the club in the summer, I already knew the way the Manager liked to play football from playing against Macclesfield and I saw where Macc finished last season.
So mine and I think everyone else’s aim was to get in the playoffs.
Much is made of the team spirit amongst the lads – how much has that been pivotal to what we have achieved already this season?
Yes as you know it always a positive when you have a tight knit group on and off the pitch.
There isn’t one player who doesn’t put the team first.
Well it was certainly an entertaining game for the neutral on Saturday, how would you sum it up?
I think we played well – going away to a team who is in top form was always going to be hard!
But we believed in ourselves as always and I’m disappointed that we did not win
Silly circumstances affected us and meant we couldn’t come away with three points and we just have to move on to the next game on Tuesday.
The fans were magnificent again, how important is their role over the next four games?
I think they have been magnificent all season and we really do need them in full voice and out in numbers for the last 4 games.
Be our twelfth man and hopefully we can achieve something great!
Moving on to Tuesday night, another tough game – this time at Boreham Wood. What are your thoughts ahead of the game?
Yep it will be tough. Every game until the end will be tough, we know this, so we got to go with the right mind set, take every game one by one, battle and believe in ourselves and try take us a step closer to winning the league.
Finally Tyrone, how much would it mean to you personally to take this club back into the Football League?
It would mean a lot to me personally after basically not playing for a season and a half to go on to hopefully winning the league this season!
I’ve been there already I know what it’s like, I’ve been in this league for four seasons now and I wanna play as high as possible!
I think it will be good for Macclesfield to regain their League status and be back where they belong and on one of the lowest budgets in the league it would be some story!
We would like to thank Tyrone for his time and wish him the very best of luck for the rest of the season.
