Fresh from celebrating Curtis Brookes’ 30th birthday, Silkmen fan Ryan Cawley is back with his ratings from Friday’s 1 – 0 victory against Dover Athletic –
Jalal 6. Pulled off a couple of decent saves but seemed to have soap in his gloves – kept dropping the ball
Yates 6. Solid enough, passenger for most
Lowe 7. Solid performance again, won everything
Kennedy 7. Did well and was committed to challenges
Fitzpatrick 7. Standard 7/8 performance from Macc’s full back celebrating his 100th appearance.
Burgess 6. Had a stinging shot second half which the keeper did marvellously well to save, but otherwise went missing far too often.
Whitaker 7. Makes Macc tick. Should be playing behind the striker though.
Lloyd 8. Man of the Match. Questionable starting position, but played brilliantly. Ran every blade of grass and was our most dangerous player. Only criticism and that is that he should have scored with a great chance in the first half.
Toure 8. Was a handful full of running and posed a threat. Still raw, more of a goal threat and productive when moved into the middle.
Durrell 7.5. Some great crosses, but looked understandably sluggish after being out for a couple of weeks
Marsh 7. Took his header well but otherwise had a quiet game
Hancox 6. Full of running and was hacked down like a lumberjack on a tree when steaming through Dover’s midfield
Baba 5. Didn’t have long enough to have an impact on the game
Askey 7. Playing Lloyd in the centre was a gamble that paid off, however I still would prefer Whitaker further forward and Lloyd back on the left.
Terribly boring first half, but much better second.
Would be nice to see the team play well for 90 mins other than just a half, but got the result against a strong Dover side
Bills Ball Bag 5. Needs to apply some glue to Jalal’s gloves – butter didn’t work this time round!
