Fantasy Football: Week Two Update

Matchday Two of the new Premier League season concluded on Monday night, when Everton claimed a share of the spoils at the Etihad Stadium in a match which saw both sides reduced down to ten men.

The Toffees had taken the lead thanks to Wayne Rooney’s 200th Premier League goal, yet former Liverpool striker Raheem Sterling restored parity late on after Morgan Schneiderlin and Kyle Walker had both been dismissed.

In terms of our Fantasy League, Andy Mulley’s 3 Stripe C.F side took an impressive 74 points this week and this was enough to see his side fly in to top spot.

28 of the 74 points Andy accumulated came as a result of Manchester United’s 4-0 thrashing of Swansea on Saturday lunchtime.

Goalkeeper David De Gea (6), midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan (10) and new boy Romelu Lukaku (12) proved to be worthy inclusions, as 3 Stripe C.F opened up a fifteen point lead at the summit.

Moving up to second place is Matthew Betteridge’s The Mighty Sword who clocked up a very decent 64 points this week, although Haavard Gulbrandsen’s Mokk Lads are hot on their heels just one point behind.

The lower echelons are understandably dominated by those teams who were making their debuts last weekend, with Dave Graves’ Klopps and Robbers side holding the unenviable position of being the lowest ranked side of those who have competed for the full first two weeks (41st).

Klopps and Robbers were penalised for Kyle Walker’s red card for Manchester City on Monday evening, with their only decent performance being Leicester Captain Wes Morgan’s clean against new boys Brighton.

Yet it is still very early days, and everything can change in a flash so keep checking back here for further updates!
