Ok well it wasn’t all that nice was it, as Sir John’s Silkmen side came away from the International Stadium following a 3 – 0 drubbing.
But, you know what, there are things bigger than the result which came from today’s game.
Firstly, no matter what happens on the field, we all turn up week after week and get behind the lads.
The support today was awesome, and until the match really was lost we sung our hearts out, willing them forward and kicked every ball in the hope of taking maximum points away with us.
I have spent so much time over the last three years going to other clubs, associating with their fans and trying to replicate something which I could never ever do – being part of our blue and white tribe who fights tooth and nail wherever we go.
Let me tell you this now – there are no better fans in the land than those who follow The Silkmen. Other clubs may have more in number, but in terms of faith, friendship and camaraderie then there are no better set of people no matter who they follow.
People like the Westbury brothers, the Worths, the Wilson’s, Ryan Pollard, Jamie Thorpe and as much as it pains me to say it even Jon Smart just to name a few. We are the real Macclesfield Town, we are the people who matter and we are the ones who will be there week in week out getting behind whatever side is put out.
As a collective group, you lot have given me a lifetime of wonderful memories, as well as lifelong friends over the years, and I am sure that you will have your own too.
Win, lose or draw – we all stick together like we always have done and always will do.
I read the below Facebook post from the legend that is Finley Brown, and it kind of sums things up –
See you all on Friday when we go again.
