The votes have been cast for the SLE Man of the Match award for our trip to Gander Green Lane on Tuesday and unsurprisingly ‘keeper Billy O’Brien has come out on top.
The former Manchester City and St Mirren ‘keeper was more or less unchallenged, which is more than can be said for the events of Tuesday night where he prevented Sutton running riot.
O’Brien made a string of world class saves to preserve our early lead, and could not do anything about the late goals which saw our hosts take maximum points.
Billy stepped in after Shwan Jalal had to come off with a calf strain during last Saturday’s stalemate with Bromley, and the Iraqi will have it all to do to get his jersey back after O’Brien’s stunning performance.
The overall SLE Player of the Year will receive an award at the end of the season, and here are the current standings –
Keith Lowe 2
Elliott Durrell 1
Billy O’Brien 1
