Good Luck Groundsman Gary

Head Groundsman Gary Lewis is heading down to the illustrious St George’s Park today ready to bring some silverware back up to the Moss Rose following his nomination for “Groundsman of the Year”.

Gary is up against some fierce competition with AFC Fylde, FC United of Manchester and Squire’s Gate all vying for the prestigious award.

Representatives from the FA have assessed not only the pitch, but also the level of equipment which has been utilised on it in order to make their decision and we thing that Gary has a very real chance of bringing the accolade home.

Speaking to the Official Site, Gary stated that he is not interested in anything other than scooping the award –

I am only going down to win – I don’t do second me so hopefully I can bring a trophy back!”

The event is run in a similar fashion to the Oscars, and irrelevant of what happens tonight I am sure that we will all agree that making the final six is testament in itself to the work that has gone in to the pitch over the last twelve months.

Actually no, who am I kidding? You had better bring that trophy back!!!!! πŸ™‚

  1. Well done to Gazza on his fully deserved commendation. He’s produced a fine pitch on presumably limited resources. Whatever the team’s successes or failures this season, it won’t be down to a poor playing surface.
