Groundsman Gary Thanks The Trust

Head Groundsman Gary Lewis has thanked the Silkmen Supporters Trust after they funded a new sit-on mower.

Gary told me that the new acquisition will make his job a lot easier, and will help ensure that the pitch remains at the same high standard throughout the season.

Last week Gary unveiled his novel idea to keep birds off the pitch – by releasing his self-made snake on to the turf, which deters them away.

Gary’s got a brand new seated mower – but will he give you the keys?

With his new mower now in place, we are expecting him to be driving around the pitch, singing along to himself whilst getting the pitch ready for the start of the season.

In actual fact, rumour has it that he can actually hold a tune quite well, and is thinking of releasing a single in the near future along the same lines as the classic Wurzels hit. “I have got a brand new combine harvester”.

I am sure we all cannot wait to here this – as long as no snakes are harmed in the process!

The mower, which arrived at the club this week, is the latest projected that the SST have funded and with more ideas in the pipeline we should all recognise the contribution which they make to the club.
