The eagle-eyed amongst you will have noticed that there is a new feature on the site – a forum where you can talk with other Silkmen fans about anything related to Macc Town.
As most of you will know, I have painstakingly debated this for a number of weeks, weighing up the pros and cons and thinking yes one minute and no the next.
So I have compromised and a forum is being trialled – to see how well it works within the site and also to see how much hassle it generates for me.
Hopefully, you will be able to appreciate the amount of work I am putting in to the content element of the site, and the last thing I want is for this to be overshadowed by one or two idiots posting abuse on the forum.
Should I see any form of abuse on here, then the offending user will be banned – no ifs no buts.
Also, you are liable for your own comments – so posts embodying racism, homophobia, or any sort of discrimination will be dealt with stringently. I am not having this whole site, and the users who follow the few rules we have, to be tarred by one or two others who are essentially breaking the law. Again, there will be a zero tolerance policy on this, as we want everyone to enjoy the site and everything it has to offer.
I have four moderators in place who shall remain anonymous – not because there are any secrets, but after seeing some of the vitriolic abuse aimed at the moderator on the Wraggs site, I want to safeguard them against any future repeats. They are giving up their time to make sure that you are seeing a vibrant an active forum – please respect them for this as sometimes it is an incredibly thankless task.
Finally, if you see anything on the forum which goes against anything I have just said then please do not hesitate to use the contact form and we will get on to it straight away for you.
I hope that I don’t sound too much of a nob with the above – I just want this site to be the best that it can be, and if we can create a vibrant forum with decent debate then this would surely add to what we are trying to do. If we can’t then it will go – so let’s give it a try and keep our fingers crossed.
The board will get better by the way – you would not believe the hassle I have had just to get it this far!
