Whit Plays Waiting Game

Silkmen Legend Danny Whitaker watched the match from the stands yesterday as his contract for the new season remains unsigned.

The 36 year old is understood to have been offered another deal by Sir John as despite his advancing years, he still remains integral to our new look Silkmen squad.

Danny has notched up in excess of 300 appearances for the club over two spells at the Moss Rose, and Sir John isn’t panicking just yet about the fans favourite adding to these.

Speaking at last week’s Fans Forum the Manager joked;

Danny Whitaker never signs until about October so if anyone sees him then give him a nudge for me!”

John Askey

Whitaker remains one of the best midfielders in the National League, and with the squad shaping up well ahead of the new season, his addition would be welcomed by players and fans alike.

Linked in with this, surely it is time we gave this unbelievable servant a testimonial to mark the loyalty he has shown to us? Players like Danny don’t come along every day and it is hoped that he will be groomed into remaining with the club even after the sad day he hangs his boots up – much in the mould of Sir John himself.

So come on Danny, sign on that dotted line and let’s see you in your famous blue shirt once again!
