Fans have rallied round to help the club as they prepare for the 2017/18 National League season. From the ungodly hour of 9am this morning, devoted fans Jim Goodwin, Cathy Pengelly, Bob Trafford and David Tolliday swept the whole of the ground so fans can enjoy a cleaner match day experience from August.
Despite the inclement weather which greeted us on our arrival, the rain thankfully eased off as all areas of the ground were spruced over.
Big Jim led the way, running down the London Road End with a broom in one hand and a shovel in the other – we were genuinely in awe of how much effort the Big Man put in. He never moaned once, declined every break which was offered to him and barely smoked any cigarettes throughout the whole day.
Our thanks also go to Rob Heys at he club who provided the workers with a chippy dinner which was much appreciated – especially by Cathy who wanted a souvenir of the day so dropped most of the gravy down her top.
Whilst we slaved away on the terraces, Head Groundsman Gary Lewis took to the pitch to carry on the long job of getting it ready for the fast approaching pre-season friendlies.
Great day had by all – but now a well deserved pint or two is calling.
