Player Profiles: Courtney Richards

Courtney Richards was born on 23rd November 1993 and is a Jamaican national.

Richards began his career on the south coast with Brighton and worked his way through the ranks at the Amex Stadium.

With First Team chances hard to come by, Courtney went out on loan to Whitehawk in October 2013 and showed himself to be a reliable and tenacious midfielder who was also a born leader on the pitch.

National League side Torquay United were quick to sign Richards up in the summer of 2014 where he continued to impress.

Courtney was made Gulls Captain shortly after and was part of the side who narrowly avoided relegation to the Conference South during the 2016-17 season.

In the summer of 2017, Richards decided that it was time to move away from Plainmore and showed no hesitation in signing for John Askey’s Macclesfield Town.

The likeable midfielder always seems to have a smile on his face and is a welcome addition to our new look squad.
